Bougie on a Budget: Makeup buying Guide

Do you have a rich taste with no funds to match? Same.

Recent research suggests that the Londoner spends £6,500 on beauty per year. Let that sink in. We’ve got to do better.

The bougie on a budget series is going to be your guide to help you save some serious cash leading up to and after the Christmas season.

Now for all you makeup junkies out there. I have you covered.

Best MakeUp Dupes 2019

Beauty blender £17 vs Real Techniques miracle complexion sponge £6

There have been many replica’s of this sponge like egg, but I have found nothing that competes until now. In my personal experience I find that the Beauty Blender does not last as long before the vibrant colour gets diluted with the colour of your foundation, to me it just does not look as pretty. its recommended that you change your sponge every 3 months. Thats right 3 months…racks up to £68 a year. If you’ve got that to splash on a sponge, go for it. But SIS…I’ll stick to Real Techniques :)

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer £26 vs Lacura Snapshot Ready Primer £5.99 (ALDI)

I’m personally not s fan of primers however I know a lot of you are. Most of you want use a primer to act as a base for your foundation or to smooth textured skin. I think primers are a waste of money anyway but for those that have large open pores a premium product that you might love already would be the Benefit Porefessional primer (£24) a dupe for this would be the NYX Pore Filler (£9.99) for those who want a smooth base before they apply product Aldi Lacura range has you covered. Your right I said ALDI!!

Anastasia beverly hills dipbrow pomade, £19 vs NYX Tame & Frame Brow Pomade, £6

Now who doesn’t love a good brow pomade. These things last for months and are usually good value for money if you make sure you tighten the lid so it doesn’t dry to charcoal. For daily use why not get something that is similar that lasts even longer as you get more product. It is also waterproof!! Look you can’t go wrong with the NYX. Thank me later :)

Fenty pro filt’r foundation, £26 vs Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation, £5.99

Now our good sister Rihanna has hooked up every shade, colour and creed with this amazing foundation that everyone is raving about. I personally prefer the Huda Faux Filter foundation but I digress. If you want a long lasting make-up alternative go for the Maybelline Fit Me. Both foundations are equally as good however I find the Fit me to be a little thicker.

Huda beauty Faux Filter foundation £32 vs Maybelline’s SuperStay Full Coverage Foundation £9.99

Both of these foundations mentioned are in my top 3. Maybelline’s Superstay foundation is the best thing for me personally since sliced bread. I have extremely oily skin so I enjoy I good matte foundation. Both of these give me that all day just applied look. Drugstore foundation are coming for a necks. Maybelline SuperStay needs to be a staple in everyones makeup bag.

Tarte shape tape contour concealer, £22 vs Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer, £4

Tarte is arguable a problematic brand for some. When their concealer came out they were limited to a few shades and nothing catering for those with deeper skin tones. Since the release they have come out with loads more shades. However Makeup revolution beat them to it. in my opinion it’s the same product for nothing! Grab it!!!

Nars Radiant concealer £24 vs Maybelline’s Fit me Concealer £6

I absolutely love Nars’ Radiant concealer it gives along lasting dewy finish to the skin that last for hours. It is great for all skin types. However in my experience using this product I find that for daily use It doesn’t last very long and if I wanted to buy the product over the counter I would have to find my nearest Nars counter which is in central London (LONNNG TING) I just don’t have the time. At my local beauty supply store I can get as close as I can to the real thing for a fraction of the cost. umm no brainer :)

Nars Blush in Orgasm £20 vs Milani Baked Powder Blush in Luminoso £11

For my girls that love this number one blusher I have managed to find an alternative for nearly half the price. Now I don’t know what the rave is personally with this blusher because I do find on deeper skin tones it can make the skin look ashy. If you like it, I love it!
